The Environmental Advisory Committee (the "Committee") shall
be composed of seven residents of Charlestown Township and up to two
alternate members.

1. All Committee members shall be appointed by the Charlestown Township
Board of Supervisors.
2. Committee members' terms of office shall expire on the first
Monday in January following the last year of their term of office.
3. Duly appointed Committee members shall serve a term of three years,
except that initial appointments shall be so staggered that the terms
of approximately 1/3 of the membership shall expire each year.
4. The Board of Supervisors shall fill vacancies m the term of membership
for the unexpired term.
5. Whenever possible, one member shall also be a member of the local
Planning Commission.

The Board of Supervisors shall designate the Chairperson of
the Committee. The Committee shall elect all other necessary officers,
including a Secretary, at its annual organization meeting (first regular
meeting each year). Except for the Chairperson, all officers shall
be elected for a period of one year, that period of office to be coterminous
with the calendar year.

The Environmental Advisory Committee is to be advisory to, and
shall coordinate its activities with, the Board of Supervisors and
Planning Commission.

1. The Environmental Advisory Committee shall have the following powers:
A. Identify environmental problems.
B. Recommend plans and programs to Charlestown Township the Board of
Supervisors for the promotion and conservation of the natural resources
and for the protection and improvement of the quality of the environment
within the area of this municipality.
C. Make recommendations as to the possible use of lands owned by the
Township.
D. To undertake such environmental tasks as requested by the Charlestown
Township Board of Supervisors.
E. Provide for education and outreach on issues affecting the environment
such as recycling, stormwater, and septic system, Earth Day and scouting
projects that improve the Township.

The Committee shall adopt rules for the conduct of its own meetings
and business. Said rules shall comply with all applicable federal,
state, and local regulations, including but not limited to the Sunshine
Act. The Committee shall establish regular meeting dates and
criteria for the calling of special meetings.

The Secretary shall keep minutes of all meetings of the Committee.
Minutes of each meeting shall be forwarded to the Board of Supervisors.

All members of the Committee shall serve without compensation,
but may be reimbursed for necessary and reasonable expenses incurred
by them in performance of their duties and as approved by the Board
of Supervisors.
