The Board of Education of the City of Orange Township (hereinafter
"Board") shall consist of seven (7) members as provided by N.J.S.A.
18A:12-6.
The Mayor shall appoint all members to the Board pursuant to
N.J.S.A. 18A:12-7. The members of the Board shall be appointed between
April 1 and April 15, and their terms of office shall commence on
May 16 next succeeding, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 18A:12-8.
Pursuant to § 15A-1 and N.J.S.A. 18A:12-9, three (3) members shall be appointed in the first year, and two (2) members shall be appointed in each of the two (2) following years of each three-year period, each for a term of three (3) years, except the members of the first Board of any such district, who shall be appointed for such terms as shall, as soon as possible, result in all members of a seven-man Board being appointed for terms of three (3) years and the terms of either three (3) or two (2) members expiring in each three-year period. All members shall serve after the expiration of their respective terms until the appointment and qualification of their successors.
