There is created a Department of Public Works. The head of the Department of Public Works shall be the Director of Public Works, who shall be appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of Council for the term of the Mayor appointing him, and until the appointment and qualification of a successor. Within the Department of Public Works there shall be a Division of Water Pollution Control, a Division of Highway, a Division of Public Grounds, and a Division of Automotive Services. The Division heads shall be appointed by the Director of Public Works, who shall also be the appointing authority for technical personnel and laborers necessary to carry out the functions of the Department.

The Director of Public Works shall:
a. 
Be subject to the direction and supervision of the Mayor;
b. 
Be responsible for the proper and efficient conduct of all public works functions of the Township government; and
c. 
Supervise and direct the work of the Public Works Department.

The Division of Water Pollution Control shall be responsible for:
a. 
Supervision of the operation of the Township sewerage collection;
b. 
Administering all Township ordinances relating to connections with the Township's sewerage systems; and
c. 
Supervising the operation of the Township's storm sewer system.

The Division of Highway shall be responsible for:
a. 
Supervising all maintenance and construction work pertaining to public streets, curbs, sidewalk, walkway and other public uses.

The Division of Public Grounds shall be responsible for:
a. 
Supervising, controlling and regulating, planting and care of shade and ornamental trees now located or hereafter planted in any public park or grounds, moving, or requiring the removal of any tree or part thereof dangerous to public safety, encouraging arboriculture, and administering ordinances heretofore; and[1]

b. 
Supervising all activities relating to the maintenance of public grounds.

The Division of Automotive Services shall be responsible for the repair and maintenance of all Township vehicles and facilities provided therefor.

The Building Maintenance Division shall be responsible for maintaining all of the municipal buildings.
