There is hereby created a Department of Construction Code Enforcement and Inspections.

The head of the Department of Construction Code Enforcement and Inspections shall be the Building Construction Official, who shall be appointed by the mayor, with the advice and consent of the Township Council, for a four (4) year term, pursuant to the provisions of N.J.S.A. 52:27D-126. The Building Construction Official shall receive such compensation as shall be fixed by a general salary ordinance, and shall be the appointing authority for all technical personnel necessary to carry out the functions of the Department.

Within the Department of Construction Code Enforcement and Inspections there shall be such subcode officials as are required under the Uniform State Construction Code Act, who shall receive such compensation as shall be fixed from time to time by a general salary ordinance, and who shall be appointed for a four (4) year term pursuant to N.J.S.A. 52:27D-126.

The Department of Construction Code Enforcement and Inspections shall be charged with the following duties:
a. 
Receive application for Occupancy and Building Permits;
b. 
Review all drawings and plans for Building and Construction Applications;
c. 
Administer and enforce the Township Building Ordinance and the New Jersey Uniform Construction Code;
d. 
Inspect all on-site improvements installed in all building projects within the Township; and
e. 
Such other duties as may be directed by the Mayor.
