The purpose of this article is to meet the requirements for administration and enforcement of the new State Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code. These requirements are outlined in § 381 of Article 18, State Executive Law.
Under the authority of § 381, Subdivision 2, of Article 18 of the State Executive Law, the Village of Adams hereby enacts this article, prior to the first day of July 1983, providing that it will not enforce the Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code on and after the first day of January 1984. The municipality herein realizes that this article shall be in effect until it shall be repealed, at which time the municipality shall administer and enforce the Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code immediately thereafter. The Village of Adams also acknowledges the fact that by refusing to administer and enforce the Uniform Code they may be allowing either the county or state to enforce the Uniform Code on their behalf, and in their community.
This article shall take effect with local passage and upon filing with the Secretary of State and State Comptroller.
