Director and Deputy Director. There shall be a Disaster Control Committee
composed of eight (8) members appointed by the Mayor. Each member
shall hold office at the will and pleasure of the Mayor. In addition,
the Mayor shall appoint a Municipal Disaster Control Director from
among the residents of the Borough, who shall serve at the pleasure
of the Mayor. The Municipal Disaster Control Director shall be a member
and shall serve as Chairman of the Disaster Control Committee.
The Disaster Control Committee shall assist the Borough in establishing
the various local volunteer agencies needed to meet the requirements
of all local civilian defense and disaster control activities in accordance
with rules and regulations established by the Governor pursuant to
general law. The Disaster Control Committee is authorized, within
the limits of appropriation, to establish an adequate organization
to assist in supervising and coordinating the civilian defense and
disaster control activities of the Borough.
The Municipal Disaster Control Director shall be responsible for
the planning, activating, coordinating and the conduct of disaster
control operations within the Borough. He shall appoint a Deputy Municipal
Disaster Control Director with the approval of the Mayor. Whenever
possible, such Deputy shall be appointed from among the salaried officers
or employees of the Borough.
