A Municipal Court for the Borough of Somerville, in the County
of Somerset, is hereby established as of January 1, 1949, pursuant
to the provisions of Chapter 264 of the Laws of 1948 as amended and supplemented.
The name of the Municipal Court shall be the "Municipal Court
of the Borough of Somerville, in the County of Somerset."
The Municipal Court shall have a seal which shall bear the impress
of the name of the Court.
There shall be a Judge of the Municipal Court, who shall be
appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Council
and who shall serve for a term of three (3) years from the date of
his appointment and until his successor is appointed and qualified.

A. The Judge of the Municipal Court shall receive such annual salary
as the Council shall from time to time fix by resolution. The salary
shall be paid in the same manner as the salaries of other municipal
officers are paid and shall be in lieu of all fees, costs and any
other allowances whatsoever.
B. The Council of the borough shall forthwith after the adoption of
this chapter adopt a resolution fixing and determining the specific
annual salary to be paid to the Judge of the Municipal Court pursuant
to the provisions hereof and the times at which the installments thereof
or period of time for which such salary or installments thereof shall
be paid. The amount so fixed and determined by such resolution shall
be effective as of and from and after January 1, 1955 and shall continue
in effect until revised by further resolution of said Council.
The Municipal Court and the Municipal Judge thereof shall have,
possess and exercise all the functions, powers, duties and jurisdiction
conferred by the provisions of Chapter 264 of the Laws of 1948, as amended and supplemented, or by any other law.
