[Editor's Note: Former § 56-1, § 56-2, § 56-3 and § 56-4 and § 56-6, which adopted the 1965 Edition of the BOCA Abridged Building Code and provided for its enforcement, definitions and fees related thereto and deletions therefrom, were superseded by the enactment of the State Uniform Construction Code Act (Chapter 217 of the Laws of 1975) and the promulgation of the state building subcode pursuant to that Act. In accordance with the provisions of Section 107.0, FIRE DISTRICTS, of the Building Code hereby adopted, the following zoning districts are hereby established as fire districts, all as shown on the Zoning Map of the Borough of Somerville: B-1, B-2, B-G and I-S Zoning Districts, and the following portions of the R-C Zoning District:
A. 
All that portion of the R-C Zoning District beginning at a point in the northwesterly intersection of East High Street and Grove Street; thence in a northerly direction and following the west line of Grove Street a distance of two hundred fifty (250) feet to the northerly boundary of the R-C District; thence in a westerly direction and following the northerly boundary of the R-C District to a point two hundred (200) feet east of the east line of North Bridge Street; thence in a northerly direction and following the boundary of the R-C District to the south side of East Cliff Street; thence in a westerly direction along the south line of East Cliff Street and West Cliff Street to a point one hundred twenty (120) feet west of North Bridge Street; thence in a southerly direction and following the boundary line of the R-C District to the northerly line of the B-2 District; thence in an easterly direction following the line of the B-2 District to the east line of North Bridge Street; thence in a southerly direction along the east line of North Bridge Street to the north line of East High Street; thence in an easterly direction along the north line of East High Street to the west line of Grove Street, the point and place of beginning.
B. 
All that portion of the R-C District beginning at a point in the westerly line of Maple Street, one hundred sixty (160) feet south of West High Street; thence in a northerly direction following the west line of Maple Street to the south line of West High Street; thence in a westerly direction along the south line of West High Street to a point opposite the westerly line of Ross Street; thence in a northerly direction following the west line of Ross Street to a point two hundred fifty (250) feet north of the north line of West High Street; thence in a westerly direction and following the northerly line of the R-C District to the easterly line of Mountain Avenue; thence in a southerly direction along the easterly line of Mountain Avenue to a point one hundred sixty (160) feet south of the southerly line of West High Street; thence in an easterly direction and following the southerly line of the R-C District to the westerly line of Maple Street, the point and place of beginning.

In addition to meeting all of the requirements of the printed Building Code hereby adopted, every elevator shall have a platform size measuring a minimum of at least five by seven (5 × 7) feet.
It shall be unlawful for any person to erect, use, occupy or maintain any building or structure in violation of any provision of this chapter or of the Building Code, or to cause, permit or suffer any such violation to be committed. Any such person so violating shall, upon conviction, be liable to a fine of not more than five hundred dollars ($500) or to imprisonment for not more than ninety (90) days, or both such fine and imprisonment. It shall be the responsibility of the offender to abate the violation as expeditiously as possible, and the violation of any one provision and each day that a violation continues shall be deemed to constitute a separate offense.
