Any permanent, temporary or mobile establishment or premises
where living animals are displayed to the public in a manner in which
direct contact by the public with animals is promoted and/or encouraged,
and is not merely incidental or casual.

Portable hand washing stations stocked with soap, potable water
and paper towels must be located within the immediate activity area
or permanent indoor hand washing facilities must be located within
100 feet of the location of the Petting Zoo which is easily accessible
and properly stocked with soap, paper towels and potable water supply.
If hand washing facilities are not located within the immediate location
of the activity, hand sanitizer must also be available easily accessible
to visitors and staff within the immediate location of the petting
zoo and signage must indicate the exact location of said facilities.

Hand wash station signage as referred to above and the health
advisory below must be posted at the entrance and exit of the designated
petting zoo area. The signage must read in legible 1" English lettering
and the health advisory must read as follows:

1. Wash hands after touching animals or environment. Facilities
have been provided for this purpose.

2. Eating, drinking, smoking, carrying toys or pacifiers are
NOT permitted in animal areas.

3. Young children, elderly, pregnant women and persons with
compromised immune systems are at higher risk of contracting illness.

An ample number of trash receptacles to be in place for the
duration of the event. All waste, refuse and trash must be removed
immediately at the conclusion of the event.

A.
Corrales and pens in good repair and properly designed to prevent
injury and properly secure the animals.
B.
Ample fresh water must be provided to animals for drinking.
C.
Shaded area(s) must be provided for animals when outdoor ambient
temperatures exceed 85 degrees Fahrenheit and the exposure of the
animals will exceed 90 minutes.
D.
Immediately at the conclusion of the event, the area utilized must
be cleaned of all animal waste, hay, feed, debris, litter and garbage.
Trash and receptacles brought and used for the event must be removed
from the premises.
E.
Ground that was in direct contact with animals must be treated with
lime.
F.
Petting Zoo staff shall provide adequate supervision of visitors.
G.
Direct public contact with animals manifesting signs of zoonotic
illness shall not be permitted unless a licensed veterinarian certifies
the animal is no longer contagious.
H.
Bites, scratches or other injuries that occur during the activity
must be documented with the name, address and phone number of the
injured along with a description of the incident. This information
must be submitted to the Health Department within 24 hours of the
incident and the said documentation must be retained by the operator
for a period of one year.

A.
An approval for an outdoor event must be obtained from the Township
Clerk's Office in order to operate a petting zoo.
B.
In addition to all information required on the Clerk's application,
the types and numbers of each animal to be present at the event must
also be provided. The Clerk's approval is contingent upon the operator
complying with all written terms and conditions set forth by the Health
Department.
