All special and emergency law enforcement officers shall be
appointed as set forth in this section:
A.
No special law enforcement officers shall be appointed except in
conformance with the Special Law Enforcement Officers Act, N.J.S.A.
40A:14-146.8 et seq.
B.
Any such appointment shall be by resolution of Borough Council.
C.
Any such appointment shall be limited to five Class one and five
Class two special police.
D.
It is not mandatory that special police be residents of the Borough.
E.
For purposes of employing emergency police as defined by the Special
Law Enforcement Officers Act, the Chief of Police, or in the absence
of the Chief, the next highest ranking law enforcement officer, or
the Mayor, or in the Mayor's absence, the Chairperson of the
Public Safety Committee, shall have the authority to designate an
"emergency."

Borough Council may enter into a contract with a volunteer fire
company for the purposes of extinguishing fires upon such terms and
conditions as shall be deemed proper and set forth in such contract,
in accordance with N.J.S.A. 40A:14-33 et seq., and specifically N.J.S.A.
40A:14-68.[1]
