There is hereby instituted a resident parking permit program,
to be instituted as follows:
a. Each licensed driver who resides in the City shall be entitled to
a resident parking permit for one registered vehicle if their primary
residence is located on a street with a parking meter. No household
shall receive more permits than licensed drivers residing therein.
b. The City Clerk is hereby empowered to issue said permits upon the
compliance with this article's regulations.

The resident parking permit ("permit") shall entitle the owner
or lessee of any motor vehicle or vehicles to park on the street on
which their residence is located without the necessity of depositing
the otherwise required meter fee and/or without regard to time limits
imposed by ordinance and signs, except the time requirements pursuant
to the sweeper ordinance.
If there is no parking permitted on the street on which the
applicant's residence is located, an area will be assigned by the
City Clerk's Office.

a. APPLICATION FORM: The application for a permit shall have appended
thereto an attestation by the applicant affirming that:
1. The applicant
is a resident of the City of Lambertville;
2. There is
no available driveway or garage at the applicant's residence; and
3. There is
no other free and legal off-street parking available for the vehicles
for which the permit is sought within one block of the applicant's
residence.
b. TERM FOR PERMIT:
1. ANNUAL
PERMIT: Each residential parking permit shall be valid from January
1 to December 31 and shall be renewable upon expiration provided the
conditions for issuance continue to exist.
2. SIX-MONTH
OR LESS PERMITS will be available each year for a term of six-months.
Permits issued after July 1 of each year shall expire on December
31 of that calendar year.
c. DISPLAYING OF PERMIT:
1. PARKING
STICKERS: Each permit shall be issued a corresponding sticker to be
affixed on the rear windshield, on the passenger side bottom corner
(right side).
2. TEMPORARY
PERMITS: Each permit holder shall be issued a temporary permit by
the Clerk’s Office.
d. REVOKING OF PERMITS: Permits shall automatically be revoked if the
vehicle ceases to qualify or if the permit is affixed to a vehicle
other than the one so designated on the application. Vehicles with
revoked stickers will be subject to the same penalty as a vehicle
parked in a similar location without a permit.
e. EXEMPT FROM METER FEES: All vehicles properly displaying a valid
residential parking permit shall be exempt from paying any meter fee
and from the time limits imposed by signage on the street on which
their residence is located.
f. APPLICATION TYPES: The resident parking permit ("permit") shall be
issued under the following regulations and rules:
1. PERMANENT RESIDENT: A completed application with the following information
is required for a permanent Lambertville resident. If you are a licensed
driver relocating to New Jersey from another state, you need to change
titles and registration for all vehicles currently titled and registered
in another state. You must register your vehicles within 60 days or
before your out-of-state registration expires (whichever is first).
(a) A
valid motor vehicle registration for the vehicle for which the permit
is sought.
(b) The
resident parking permit ("permit") shall be issued under the following
regulations and rules:
(1) A valid vehicle insurance card.
(2) Lease or deed for the residence, which proves residency and reflects
off-street parking is not available.
(c) RESIDENT
PARKING PERMIT TYPES AND FEES: There are two types of resident parking
permits and they include: a permanent fixable Single Car Permit, and
a Transferable Multi-Car Permit.
(1) Permanent Single Car Permit: are not transferable and shall automatically
be revoked in the event a holder ceases to be a resident of the City
of Lambertville.
(2) Transferable Multi-Car Permits: may be transferred between a personal
vehicle and a company vehicle and may be issued upon documentation
presented to the City Clerk.
(3) Fees.
(i) The fee for beginning with the issuance of the 2022 residential parking
permits shall be $120 for the full year permit and $90 for the six-month
permit which in all cases shall expire December 31 of each calendar
year.
(ii) The fee shall increase by $12 for the full year permit and by $9.00
for the six-month permit for each calendar year.
3. TEMPORARY NON RESIDENT PARKING PERMITS: Temporary Permits may be
issued for a period not to exceed two weeks or 14 days for a fee of
$25. Temporary permits are available for the following:
(a) Visitors of property owners who reside on a metered street.
(b) House sitters or pet sitters of property owners who reside on a metered
street.
(c) Temporary Permits shall not be issued to Air BnB or short-term rental
units. Please see number 6. Bed and Breakfast Businesses (B&B’S).
(d) The following information is required for the issuance of a temporary
permit:
(1) Property owners need to provide a notarized letter covering the period
of time the visitor or house guest stay,
(2) A copy of the property owner's driver's license tying them to the
property,
(3) Any payment in the amount of $25 for the temporary permit.
4. DUPLICATE PERMIT: In the event that a permit is lost, stolen or damaged,
the fee for a duplicate permit or a permit for a new vehicle shall
be $25.
5. PRO-RATING: There shall be no monthly prorating for the permit regardless
of the permanent or temporary status.
6. BED AND BREAKFAST BUSINESSES (B&B's): B&B's with no more
than 10 rooms and located within the metered area of the City of Lambertville,
shall be eligible to purchase up to 10 parking stickers per year for
a fee of $100 per sticker. The maximum number of parking stickers
shall be limited to the number of rooms.
(a) The Bed and Breakfast Business must:
(1)
File with the application a copy of the resolution of approval
issued by the Planning or Zoning Board of the City of Lambertville.
(2)
Must be registered with the State of New Jersey, Division of
Taxation for Hotel and Motel Taxes.
(b) The fees must be paid in full annually and cannot be pro-rated.
(c) Hang-tags can only be issued and used by visitors of the Bed and
Breakfast business and are strictly prohibited for owners or employees.
(d) The parking area permitted will be designated by an official of the
City of Lambertville in a low-use zone.
(e) Lost or damaged stickers can be replaced for a fee of $25.

a. Residents of Ferry Street, between Union and Main Streets, are eligible for parking stickers if they meet all of the requirements in this Article
III and reside on Ferry Street between Union and Main Streets. They may also park in the Library Parking Lot at 6 Lilly Street.
b. Residents of North Union Street, between Bridge and Coryell Streets, are eligible for parking stickers, if they meet all of the requirement in this Article
III, and reside on North Union Street between Bridge and Coryell Streets, to park on their respective street and in the North Union Street Parking Lot.
c. Residents of South Main Street, between Bridge and Ferry Streets, are eligible for parking stickers, if they meet all of the requirements in this Article
III, and reside on South Main Street between Bridge and Ferry Streets, to park on their respective street and in the Library Parking Lot.
