Pursuant to Chapter 264 of the Pamphlet Laws of 1948,[1] there is hereby established a Municipal Court of the Borough of Lawnside, which shall possess all the jurisdiction, powers and functions and perform all the duties set forth in said Act. Said Municipal Court shall have a seal, which shall bear the impress of its name.

The Judge of the Municipal Court shall be appointed by the Borough Council of the Borough of Lawnside. He shall be either an attorney-at-law of the State of New Jersey or a person who has had actual experience as a Recorder, Police Judge or Justice of the Peace or who is qualified under any rule of Court. He shall be a resident of this state and, if he is not an attorney-at-law of this state, a resident of the Borough of Lawnside. Before entering upon the duties of his office, he shall take and subscribe an oath substantially as provided in Section 2:212-7 of the Revised Statutes.[1] He shall serve for the term of three years from the date of his appointment and until his successor is appointed and qualified.

The compensation of the Judge will be as provided for in the annual Salary Ordinance,[1] and said compensation shall be paid him in quarterly installments by warrant of the Borough Treasurer and shall be in lieu of any and all other fees. The costs and fees charged against defendants, when collected, shall become the funds of the Borough of Lawnside and shall be turned over to the Borough Treasurer.
