All owners and operators of motor vehicles registered in the
State of Oklahoma bearing an Oklahoma tag are required to maintain
liability insurance or other acceptable security except as provided
by Title 47, 1991 O.S., Section 7-607.
Owners are required to carry within each motor vehicle at all
times a valid Owner's Security Verification Form. Operators are required
to carry a valid Owner's or Operator's Security Verification Form
in the vehicle and produce it for inspection upon request of any law
enforcement officer, representative of the Department of Public Safety,
or to any person affected by a collision.
The following are not required to carry an Owner's or Operator's
Security Verification Form:
1. Any vehicle owned or leased by the federal or state government, agency
or political subdivision thereof;
2. Any vehicle bearing the name, symbol or logo of the business, corporation,
or utility of the exterior and which is in compliance with the compulsory
law by deposit, bond, etc., according to records of the Department
of Public Safety;
3. Any vehicle authorized for operation under a permit number issued
by the Interstate Commerce Commission or Oklahoma Corporation Commission;
5. Any vehicle owned by a licensed used motor vehicle dealer;
6. Any vehicle with out-of-state tag;
7. Any vehicle which is not being used upon public streets or highways,
provided an affidavit is first filed with tag agent.
