A.
Purpose. The Conservation and Open Space District is intended to recognize the existence of major open space and recreational areas in the Village and to protect the public health, safety, comfort and welfare and reduce the financial burdens imposed on the Village and its individuals which may result from improper use of lands which may be subject to periodic flooding or erosion, to protect natural resources such as woodlands and wildlife areas, and areas which constitute natural recharge areas; and to provide for recreational activities and areas of educational value.
The Conservation and Open Space District is intended to apply to all public open space of notable quality such as forest preserve property and to major private open spaces such as golf courses. It is intended to be applied to publicly held lands or those which have been limited to such uses by special permit, covenant, easement or dedication.
B.
Performance Standards. All activities shall be conducted in such a manner that there is no emission of smoke, particulate matter, radiation, noise, glare, heat, odor and no other potential hazard that will endanger health and safety within the community, or adversely affect the enjoyment of the residential neighborhoods of the Village.
