The City of Hazleton hereby adopts a hiring policy for all future employees of the City of Hazleton which shall preclude the hiring of relatives of any employee or of any elected or appointed official of the City of Hazleton.

As used in this article, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
Includes mother, father, sister, brother, child, grandparent, grandchild, aunt, uncle, niece, nephew or spouse.
This article will apply to all employees hired after March 31, 1988.
The hiring policy adopted by this article shall not be applicable to the hiring of civil service employees.
Any contract or agreement entered into in violation of this article shall be declared null and void and any position obtained in violation of this article shall be forfeited immediately.
