A. All
houses and buildings fronting on public streets in the City of Weston
shall be numbered by the City Clerk of the City of Weston.
B. Address
numbers shall be a minimum of four (4) inches in height and shall
be located either near a building's main entrance, above the garage
door, or on a surface that is easily visible from the street of address.
Additional displays of assigned numbers may be displayed at the property
owner's discretion according to the City of Weston Sign Regulations.
Assigned numbers shall be displayed with Arabic Numerals in a color
that contrasts with the color of the subject house or building. Address
displays in script are prohibited.
C. Whenever
houses or buildings are situated more than fifty feet (50) from the
street line, the number of each such building shall be conspicuously
displayed at the street line, near the walls, drive-way or common
entrance to such building and upon the gate post, fence, tree, post
or other appropriate place so as to be easily discernible from the
sidewalk or street.
D. Any contractor or builder in charge of the greater part of the work of erecting any new house or building in the City of Weston shall be required to procure a building permit, at which time a house number will be assigned. Said number will be required to be placed on the house or building while construction is in progress. A certificate of occupancy will not be issued to any new house or building until a proper house number is in place as instructed in Subsection
(B).
E. Any
new subdivision plats that are accepted as a final plat by the City
of Weston will have address numbers assigned by the City Clerk. Any
new addresses assigned will be shared with the Weston Post Office,
the Platte County Assessor's Office, and the Mid-America Regional
Council 911 office.
F. Where
only one (1) number can be assigned to any house or building, as in
the case of an apartment building or multi-family dwelling, the owner,
occupant or agent of such house or building who shall desire distinctive
numbers for the upper and lower portion of any such house or building,
or for any part of such house or building, shall use the suffix "A,"
"B," "C," etc., as may be required.
G. The
responsibility for the displaying of the assigned number for each
existing house, apartment, multi-family dwelling, and building in
the City, as of the effective date of this Section, shall rest with
the property owner, trustee, lessee, agent or occupant of each house
or building; and shall be given thirty (30) days to become compliant
with this Section.
H. Any
building in the downtown Historic Zoning District that has a second
entrance or exit facing any alleyway is required to have the address
number erected clearly on the entrance in the alley as well as the
front entrance.
