There is hereby created the position of Municipal Court Bailiff for the Municipal Court of the City of Collinsville. Such position shall be a part-time position to assist the Municipal Court Judge in maintaining order and decorum while the court is in session.

The office of Municipal Court Bailiff shall be filled by appointment of the Mayor, confirmed by a majority of the City Council.
The Municipal Court Bailiff shall be appointed for an indefinite period of time and shall serve at the pleasure of the City Council.
The Municipal Court Bailiff shall receive such compensation as the City Council shall fix from time to time.
The Municipal Court Bailiff shall be licensed as a law enforcement officer by the State of Texas and shall have a current license during the term of employment with the City of Collinsville.
The Municipal Court Clerk or a peace officer employed by the City of Collinsville shall not be disqualified from holding the job as Municipal Court Bailiff if the Mayor determines that the additional duties as bailiff do not interfere with the employee's regular job.
It appearing to the City Council that there is an immediate need for the municipal court bailiff, this article shall be effective following passage by the City Council and signature by the Mayor.
