Editor's note-Ordinance 08-04-39, sec. 2, adopted Apr. 1, 2008, repealed the former Div. 1, secs. 38-88-38-91, and enacted a new Div. 1 as set out herein. The former Div. 1 pertained to similar subject matter and derived from Ordinance 00-02-13, adopted Feb. 15, 2000; and Ordinance 06-02-11, adopted Feb. 7, 2006.
The 2024 International Fire Code, copyrighted by the International Code Council, Inc., including appendices A through I and appendices K through P, save and except the deletions and additions set forth in exhibit A, attached to Ordinance 2026-01-12 and incorporated herein for all purposes, is hereby adopted as the fire code for Frisco, regulating and governing the safeguarding of life and property from fire and explosion hazards arising from the storage, handling and use of hazardous substances, materials and devices and from conditions hazardous to life or property in the occupancy of buildings and premises located within Frisco (2024 International Fire Code). The 2024 International Fire Code is made a part of this division as if fully set forth herein. Three copies of the 2024 International Fire Code are on file in the office of the City Secretary of Frisco, being marked and designated as the 2024 International Fire Code. The deletions and additions set forth in exhibit A to Ordinance 2026-01-12 are also located on Frisco's website under Development Services.

The deletions and additions to the 2021 International Fire Code set forth in exhibit A to Ordinance 2026-01-12 are on file in the office of the city secretary and are also located on the city's website under development services.

At a minimum, visual signal appliances must be provided in restrooms and any other general usage areas (e.g., meeting rooms and break rooms), hallways, lobbies, and any other area for common use. If emergency warning systems are provided, then they shall include both audible alarms and visual alarms.

All traffic-controlled intersections installed in Frisco shall be equipped with a device that is compatible with the GTT Opticom Priority Control System, or an equivalent thereo£ All optical detectors shall be mounted at or near the intersection that permits a direct, unobstructed line-of-sight to the oncoming vehicle. Card racks and phase selectors must be mounted in traffic-control cabinets.

Any person, firm, corporation or entity violating this division, as it exists or may be amended, shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof, shall be fined in an amount not exceeding $2,000.00. Each continuing day's violation shall constitute a separate offense. The penal provisions imposed under this division shall not preclude the city from filing suit to enjoin the violation. The city retains all legal rights and remedies available to it under local, state and federal law.
