(a) 
The owner of any animal that has bitten a human being is required to quarantine the animal for a period of 10 days at the owner’s expense. If impoundment is required, the owner is responsible for all expenses. If the biting animal exhibits signs of illness during the 10-day observation period, this must be reported immediately to the local health authority. A written release must be obtained from the local health authority upon the expiration of the quarantine period.
(b) 
If the owner of the biting animal cannot maintain a secure quarantine, the animal will be impounded at owner’s expense, or the animal will be humanely destroyed and the brain submitted to the proper authorities as prescribed by state law.
(c) 
Any guard or attack dog that bites a human being shall be quarantined.
(d) 
No wild animal will be placed in quarantine, and any such animal involved in biting incidents will be humanely destroyed.

If a dog bites a person and the person reports the bite to the police department by verified written complaint, the dog shall be immediately confined in a suitable and secure location designated by the animal control officer for a period of 10 days for observation. The cost of the confinement shall be paid by the owner of the dog. The owner of the dog must obtain a release from the local rabies control officer at the end of the confinement period.

The owner of any animal, other than a dog, that has bitten a human being is required to quarantine the animal for a period of 10 days at the owner’s expense. Inability to maintain quarantine.
If the owner of the biting animal cannot maintain a secure quarantine, the animal will be impounded at the owner’s expense or the animal will be humanely destroyed and the brain submitted to proper authorities as required by law.
(c) 
Wild animals.
A wild animal will not be placed in quarantine. A wild animal involved on a biting incident will be humanely destroyed.
(d) 
Release of animal.
The owner of an animal must obtain a release from the local rabies control officer upon expiration of the quarantine period.
(e) 
Violations.
A person commits an offense of the person:
(1) 
Fails or refuses to quarantine an animal that has bitten a human being; or
(2) 
Interrupts the quarantine observation period before obtaining a release from the rabies control officer.
