A.
Whereas, this Township, pursuant to 53 P.S. § 66527, Act of May 1, 1933, P.L. 103, No. 69, as amended, has the authority to adopt ordinances necessary for safety and general welfare in the Township; and
B.
Whereas, this Township, pursuant to Section 6109(a)(1) of the Vehicle Code of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Act of June 17, 1976, P.L. 162, as amended,[1] has the authority to impose regulations regulating or prohibiting stopping, standing or parking on streets and highways within its boundaries and imposing speed limits; and
C.
Whereas, no parking restrictions on certain streets located in Southampton Township are necessary due to safety and other issues; and
D.
Whereas, traffic studies, where required, have been performed by the Township Engineer, and
E.
Whereas, Section 6301 of the Pennsylvania Motor Vehicle Code, 75 Pa.C.S.A. § 6301, authorizes a municipality to, if it elects, accept the payment of a penalty, in lieu of prosecution, for violation of local ordinances relating to parking, under conditions prescribed by the municipality;
F.
Now, therefore, be it enacted and ordained and it is hereby adopted by the Board of Supervisors of Southampton Township as follows:
