Any person may file an appeal with the building code board of adjustments for a review of any decision of the department of code enforcement or fire marshal of the city, provided that such appeal is made in writing within five (5) days after such person shall have been notified of such decision by the department of code enforcement or fire marshal. Such appeal shall be taken by the filing of written notice thereof with the director of code enforcement, upon receipt of which the director of code enforcement shall immediately call and arrange for a meeting of the board, and the board shall proceed to determine whether or not the action of the department of code enforcement or fire marshal complies with this chapter. The building code board of adjustments shall, within seven (7) days, make a decision in accordance with its findings, which decision shall be final.
