[Adopted by the Town Board of the Town of East Greenbush 9-19-1966 by L.L. No. 2-1966 (Ch. 45 of the 1991 Code)]
The purpose of this Part 1 is to protect health, safety and welfare of the people of the Town of East Greenbush by the more efficient regulation of traffic within said Town.
The Town Board of the Town of East Greenbush may designate highways with the Town, except state highways maintained by the state therein, on which vehicles may not be parked or on which vehicles may not be parked on one side or the other. The designation of such street or streets shall be made in writing under the signature of a majority of the members of the Town Board and such designation when so made and completed shall be filed in the office of the Town Clerk of the Town of East Greenbush. Any highway thus designated shall be marked by conspicuous signs which shall be visible at all times.
Whenever a police officer shall deem it advisable during a fire or at the time of an accident or special emergency and for such period of time only as is necessitated thereby for the public safety or convenience, temporarily to close any street or part thereof to vehicular traffic, or to vehicles of a certain description, or to divert the traffic thereof, or to divert or break the course of pedestrian traffic, such official shall have the power and authority to do so.

Any person, firm or corporation who violates any provisions of this Part 1 shall, for a first offense, be subject to a fine of $100; and for a second or subsequent offense shall be subject to a fine of not more than $250.
