Wastewater from any filter, gravity scum gutter, overflow, pool emptying line or similar apparatus or appurtenance, shall discharge into an approved type receptor, except for surface irrigation.

The flood rim of each such receptor shall be at least twelve (12) inches from the flood level of the adjacent ground.

Receptors shall be of such materials, shape and capacity to adequately receive the backwash wastewater, except that no receptor trap shall be less than three (3) inches in diameter.

Each receptor, when connected to any part of a sanitary drainage system, shall be properly trapped and vented as required in the plumbing code.

The waste discharge from any pool or filter shall be protected from backflow by an air gap of at least one (1) inch above the floor rim of the receptor.

(a) 
No gravity scum gutter drain, overflow drain, backwash discharge drain or pool-emptying line shall enter any receptor below the rim, unless:
(1) 
The pool piping is at its deepest depth;
(2) 
The bottom of the filter; and
(3) 
The bottom of the scum gutter drain trough or overflow inlets are at least twelve (12) inches above the overflow of the receptor.
(b) 
Where a pump is used, it must discharge into a receptor as required in subsection (a) above.
