(a) 
The duties of the city clerk shall be those prescribed by the Charter, as especially set forth in sections 20, 21, 24, 2628, and 36, and all other portions thereof, and such other duties as may be prescribed by the city council.
(b) 
The city clerk shall prepare the regular form deeds to be signed by the mayor conveying cemetery lots to the proper purchasers and shall keep an accurate record of all lots owned and unsold with the approved selling price of each. The city clerk shall charge a fee as prescribed by separate ordinance for the sales of cemetery lots and the recording of transfers of cemetery lots.
(c) 
The city clerk shall keep on file, properly indexed for ready reference, all ordinance records, minute records, contracts, leases and agreements.

The salary of the city clerk shall be fixed by the city council. The city clerk shall, before entering upon the duties of office, execute a good and sufficient surety company bond in such amounts as may be set by the city council, payable to the city and conditioned for the faithful performance of the duties of office. The premium of such bond shall be paid by the city.

In the absence or disability of the city clerk, the city manager shall designate some qualified person to perform the duties of the office. The person so designated shall have authority and it shall be his duty to perform the duties of the city clerk during such absence or disability of the city clerk. The acting city clerk shall be removable peremptorily at the will of the city manager.
