It shall hereafter be unlawful for any person to drive or operate a motor vehicle upon any street, roadway or highway in the city limits of the City of Sundown, Texas, at a speed greater than is reasonable and prudent under the conditions then existing, having regard to the actual and potential hazards when approaching and crossing an intersection or a railway grade crossing, when approaching and going around a curve, when approaching a hill crest, when traveling upon any narrow or winding roadway, or when special hazard exists with respect to pedestrians or other traffic or by reason or weather or highway conditions; and in every event, speed shall be so controlled as may be necessary to avoid colliding with any person, vehicle, or other conveyance on or entering the highway in compliance with legal requirements and the duty of all persons to use due care.

(a) 
Where no special hazard exists that requires lower speed for compliance with Section 12.101, the speed of any vehicle not in excess of the limits specified in this subsection or established as hereinafter authorized shall be lawful, but any speed in excess of the limits specified in this subsection or established as hereinafter authorized shall be prima facie evidence that the speed is not reasonable or prudent and that it is unlawful:
(1) 
The speed zones established by this article shall include all of F.M. 303, Slaughter Avenue, within the corporate limits of the City of Sundown, Texas, the maximum legal speed shall be as follows:
(A) 
Beginning at the point of intersection with the north city limit, a point 0.274 mile north of the point of intersection with the centerline of First Street, the maximum legal speed both for southbound and for northbound traffic shall be 50 MPH for a distance of 0.200 mile; thence 40 MPH for a distance of 0.210 mile to the point of intersection with the centerline of Third Street, thence 30 MPH for a distance of 0.374 mile to the point of intersection with the centerline of Eighth Street, a point 1.103 mile north of the intersection with FM 301, Richardson Street; thence 35 MPH for a distance of 0.319 mile to the point of intersection with the centerline of Carter Street extending easterly; thence 40 MPH for a distance of 0.206 mile to the point of intersection with Stanolind Street extending to the east; thence 50 MPH for a distance of 0.183 mules to the point of intersection with the south city limit, this point being 0.053 mile south of the centerline of Gould Street extending to the east.
(B) 
Temporarily Reduced Speed Limit - School Zone -
Beginning at the point of intersection with the centerline of Fifth Street, the maximum legal speed for both northbound and southbound traffic when the beacons are flashing shall be 20 MPH for a distance of 0.136 mile to the point of intersection with the centerline of Seventh Street. The beacons to flash only at a pre-set time in the morning, at noon and in the evening when school children are expected to occupy the school crosswalk at Sixth Street.
(2) 
The speed zones established by this article shall include all of F.M. 301, Richardson Street, within the corporate limits of the city; maximum legal speed shall be as follows:
(A) 
Eastbound traffic at the western city limits maximum speed shall be forty (40) MPH to the eastern city limits along all of F.M. 301, Richardson Street.
(B) 
Westbound traffic at the eastern city limits maximum speed limit shall be forty (40) MPH to the western city limits along all of F.M. 301, Richardson Street.
(C) 
Temporarily Reduced Speed Limit - School Zone -
Beginning on F.M. 301 at the point of intersection with the centerline of Veal Avenue to the south, and ending at the eastern city limits, the maximum legal speed for both eastbound and westbound traffic when the beacons are flashing shall be 25 MPH. The beacons are to flash only at a pre-set time in the morning, at noon, and in the evening when school children are expected to occupy the school crosswalk at School Avenue.
(b) 
And all ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.

The maximum legal speed for the following streets and avenues or parts of streets and avenues within the City of Sundown, Texas shall be 20 m.p.h., such streets and avenues or parts of streets and avenues with such 20 m.p.h. speed limit are as follows:
(1) 
For both northbound and southbound traffic on Hockley Avenue, beginning at the intersection of Park Street and continuing south a distance of 425 feet.
(2) 
For both northbound and southbound traffic on Hockley Avenue, beginning at the intersection of Cragin and proceeding north 425 feet.
(3) 
For both eastbound and westbound traffic on Park Street, beginning at Hockley intersection and proceeding Easton Park Street 425 feet.
(4) 
For both eastbound and westbound traffic on Park Street, beginning at Cochran Avenue intersection and proceeding west a distance of 425 feet.
(5) 
Both eastbound and westbound traffic on Seventh Street, beginning 150 feet west of Cochran intersection and continuing east on Seventh Street for 1,170 feet.
(6) 
For both eastbound and westbound traffic on Seventh Street beginning at intersection of Veal Street, proceeding east 1,170 feet.
(7) 
For northbound and southbound traffic on School Street, beginning at intersection of Fourth Street proceeding south for 1,520 feet.
(8) 
For both northbound and southbound traffic on School Street, beginning at intersection of Veal Street, proceeding east 360 feet.
(9) 
For both eastbound and westbound traffic on Fifth Street, beginning at intersection of Veal Street and proceeding east for 1,060 feet.
(10) 
For both northbound and southbound traffic on Cochran Ave. beginning at the intersection of Cochran Ave. and E. Richardson (FM 301), proceeding north 1,014 feet.
(11) 
For both northbound and southbound traffic on East City Limits Rd., beginning at the intersection of East City Limits Road and E. Richardson (FM 301), proceeding north 1,014 feet.
