There is hereby levied on every dog and cat more than six (6) months of age which is kept, harbored, or maintained by the owner in the corporate limits of the city an annual license fee (refer to the city's adopted fee schedule). Dog and cat licenses shall be issued by the city upon payment of the license fee and application made upon printed forms provided for such purpose, which application shall state the name and address of the owner or keeper of such dog or cat and the name, breed, color, and sex of the dog or cat being licensed. The annual fee shall cover the period of January 1st through December 31st. A 30-day grace period shall be allowed for renewal. The dog or cat must first be vaccinated for rabies and be affixed with a rabies tag.

The city’s animal control officer shall provide dog and cat owners with a form to license their dogs and cats and shall maintain a list of licensed pets which includes the name, address, and contact information of the owners of the pets.

An owner who does not license their dog(s) and/or cat(s) per this article is subject to a fine. Refer to the city's adopted fee schedule for the amount of such fine.
