All mechanical [gas] work done within the city limits must be in compliance with the International One- and Two-Family Dwelling Code [International Fuel Gas Code], 2024 edition. The building inspector may authorize minor deviations from code as long as the work is considered safe, durable and within the intent of the code.

All applications for gas plumbing permits must be personally made by a licensed plumbing contractor or a master plumber licensed by the state. Prior to issuance of any gas plumbing permit, the plumbing contractor or master plumber must file a surety bond in the sum of two thousand dollars ($2,000.00) with the building official, said bond to be payable to the city, and conditioned upon the faithful performance of his duties. The building official shall have the authority to allow homeowners to perform gas plumbing work within and upon structures owned and occupied by said homeowner.

To the full extent allowed by law, the provisions of section 3.02.001 of this article ("permits and inspections") shall apply. All fees will be calculated in accordance with the fee schedule set by city council during the annual budget process or by minute entry.

After conviction for any violation of the code hereby adopted, the applicable penalties shall be those provided in section 3.02.002 of this article.
