The office of village treasurer is hereby created.

Appointment of a qualified person to the office of village treasurer
shall be by proper motion and majority vote of the board of aldermen
at a regular monthly meeting.

The bond and duties of the village treasurer are as follows:
(1) The
village treasurer shall execute a bond. The bond must:
(A) Be in favor of the village;
(B) Be in the form and amount required by the governing body. The required
bond amount shall be $5,000.00;
(C) Have security approved as sufficient by the governing body; and
(D) Be conditioned that the treasurer will faithfully discharge the duties
of the office.
(2) The
treasurer shall receive and securely keep all money belonging to the
village. The treasurer shall make all payments on the order of the
mayor, attested by the village clerk under the village seal. The treasurer
may not pay an order unless the face of the order shows that the board
of aldermen directed the issuance of the order and shows the purpose
for which it is issued.
(3) The
treasurer shall render to the board of aldermen a full statement of
the receipts and payments. The statement must be rendered at the first
regular meeting in every quarter and at other times as required by
the board of aldermen.
(4) The
treasurer shall perform other acts and duties as the board of aldermen
requires.
(5) The
treasurer shall act as the official contact person for all matters
regarding finances, bookkeeping and computer operations.
