(a) 
Definitions.
For the purpose of this section, the following terms, phrases, words and their derivatives shall have the meaning given in this section. When not consistent with the context, words used in the present tense include the future, words in the plural include the singular number and words in the singular number include the plural. “Shall” is always mandatory and not merely directory.
City.
The City of Lakeway, Texas.
Destination point.
A location where merchandise or material is loaded or unloaded during the normal course of business.
Heavy truck.
Any vehicle designed or operated for the transportation of property, and whose body weight or whose combined body and load weight or whose rated capacity exceeds 15,000 pounds, and/or has two rear axles.
Person.
Any person, firm, partnership, association, corporation, company or organization of any kind.
Prohibited areas.
The portions of city streets listed below in subsection (b).
(b) 
Restricted access.
(1) 
It is an offense under this section for any person to operate a heavy truck on:
(A) 
Lakeway Boulevard between Lohman’s Crossing and Ranch Road 620;
(B) 
Lohman’s Crossing between Ranch Road 620 and Lakeway Boulevard;
(C) 
Lohman’s Spur between Ranch Road 620 and Lohman’s Crossing; and
(D) 
Lakeway Boulevard between Lohman’s Crossing and The Hills Drive.
(2) 
Exceptions.
This section does not prohibit:
(A) 
Operation on street of destination.
The operation of any heavy trucks within the prohibited areas where necessary to the conduct of business at a destination point; provided, once said business is complete, the heavy trucks use the prohibited areas only until reaching the intersection nearest the destination point;
(B) 
Emergency vehicles.
The operation of emergency vehicles upon any street in the city;
(C) 
Public utilities.
The operation of heavy trucks owned or operated by the city, public utilities, or any contractor while engaged in the repair, maintenance or construction of streets, street improvements or utilities within the city;
(D) 
Detoured trucks.
The operation of heavy trucks upon any officially established detour in any case where such truck could lawfully be operated on the street for which such detour was established;
(E) 
Governmental vehicles.
The following non-exhaustive list of vehicles, whether government-owned or owned and/or operated by an entity engaged by a governmental unit, shall be permitted in the prohibited areas while performing municipal services:
(i) 
School buses;
(ii) 
Solid waste trucks;
(iii) 
Insecticide truck sprayer.
(3) 
Signs.
The city manager or his designee shall cause all truck routes to be clearly sign posted to give notice that this section is in effect.
(c) 
Violation/penalty.
It is an offense to violate this section. A violation of this section shall be a class C misdemeanor punishable by fines not to exceed $200.00 per offense.
