The boundaries of the City of Levelland are hereby established as follows: Located and situated in the County of Hockley, State of Texas, described by metes and bounds as follows:
BEGINNING at a point in the center of the S. line of Labor No. Fifteen (15) in League No. Twenty-Eight (28) of the Hood County School Lands in Hockley County, Texas, said beginning point being an equal distance E. of the S.W. Corner and an equal distance W. of the S.E. Corner of said Labor No. Fifteen (15), as per plat filed and recorded in Volume 7, at page 113, of the Deed Records of said County, for the S.W. Corner of this tract;
THENCE S. 89 deg. 13 in. E. along the S. Boundary Line of Labors Nos. Fifteen (15), Fourteen (14), Thirteen (13), and Twelve (12), in said League, a distance of 3,182.7 varas to a point in the center of the S. Line of said Labor No. Twelve (12), said point being an equal distance E. of the S.W. Corner and E. of the S.E. Corner of said Labor No. Twelve (12), for the S.E. Corner of this tract;
THENCE N. 0 deg. 34 min. E. through the Center of Labors Nos. Twelve (12) and Nine (9), in said League No. Twenty-Eight (28), parallel with and being an equal distance from the E. and W. lines of said Labors Nos. Twelve (12) and Nine (9), and continuing N. partly through the center of Labor No. Two (2) in said League No. Twenty-Eight (28), Hood County School Lands, a total distance of 2,120.85 varas to a point in said Labor No. Two (2) which is 235.65 varas N. of the center of it's line, for the N.E. Corner of this tract;
THENCE N. 89 deg. 13 min. W. Parallel with, and a distance of 235.65 varas N. of the S. Boundary Lines of Labors Two (2), Three (3), Four (4), and Five (5) in said League No. Twenty-Eight (28), a total distance of 3,182.7 varas to a point in Labor No. Five (5) which is 235.65 varas N. 0 deg. 34 min. E. of the center of the S. Line of said Labor No. Five (5) in said League No. Twenty-Eight (28).
THENCE S. 0 deg. 34 min. W. through the center of the S. part of said Labor No. Five (5) and through the middle of Labor Six (6) in said League Twenty-Eight (28), Hood County School Lands, and parallel with and being an equal distance from the East and West lines of said Labor 5 and 6, to a point of intersection with the center line of what is known as Sundown Road, which is also the center of the North line of said Labor No. Fifteen (15);
THENCE West along the North line of said Labor No. Fifteen (15), the same being along the Sundown Road a distance of 1388.89 feet:(449.96 varas to the Northwest (NW) corner of said Labor No. Fifteen (15);
THENCE South along the West line of said Labor No. Fifteen (15) a distance of 1388.89 feet (499.96 varas) to a point in the West line of said Labor No. Fifteen (15);
THENCE East a distance of 1388.89 feet (499.96 varas) to a point in the center line of Avenue "G", which point is 1388.89 feet (499.96 varas) South of the middle of the North line of said Labor No. Fifteen (15), and said point being the center point of said Labor No. Fifteen (15);
THENCE South 0 deg. 34 min. W through the middle of said Labor No. Fifteen (15) and parallel with and equal distance from the East and West line of said Labor No. Fifteen (15), to the center of the South line of said Labor No. Fifteen (15), the place of beginning, and containing 1239.91 acres of land.
The City Council shall have power by ordinance to fix the boundary limits of the City of Levelland; and to provide for the alteration and extension of said boundary limits, and the annexation of additional territory lying adjacent to said City, with or without the consent of the inhabitants and owners of the territory to be annexed. That upon the introduction of any such ordinance in the City Council, said ordinance shall be published in a newspaper published in the City of Levelland at least one time, and said ordinance shall not thereafter be finally acted upon until at least thirty (30) days has elapsed after the first publication thereof; and upon the final passage of any such ordinances, the boundary limits of the City of Levelland shall thereafter be extended and fixed as set out in said ordinance; and when any additional territory has been so annexed, same shall be a part of the City of Levelland and all property situated therein shall bear it's pro rata part of the taxes levied by the City of Levelland, and the inhabitants thereof shall be entitled to all the rights and privileges of all the citizens of said City, and they shall be bound by the lawful acts, ordinances, resolutions and regulations of said City.
The City Council shall have power by Ordinance to regulate the platting of real property located within the boundaries of the City of Levelland and within the extraterritorial jurisdiction of the City of Levelland.
