(a) 
Town administrator and/or mayor.
The town administrator and/or mayor are authorized by the town council to designate truck routes, regulate truck traffic and erect “no thru trucks” signs as may be necessary to provide for the proper flow of traffic in and through the town.
(b) 
Enumeration of truck routes.
The following roads, streets, highways or portions thereof are, by the terms of this division, hereby designated as truck routes, to the exclusion of all other roads, streets, highways or portions thereof:
(1) 
All designated U.S. highways situated within the corporate limits of the town, if any.
(2) 
All designated state highways situated within the corporate limits of the town, if any.
(3) 
All designated farm-to-market roads situated within the corporate limits of the town, including, but not limited to, FM 407.
(c) 
Erection of signs.
The mayor, the town engineer or either of their designated representatives may erect appropriate signs and markings advising motorists of the truck routes established by this division.
(d) 
Definitions.
For purposes of this division, terms included herein shall have the same meaning as set forth in pertinent sections of the V.T.C.A., Transportation Code § 541.001 et seq., as amended.

(a) 
Except as otherwise provided in this division, no person shall operate or cause to be operated on, along or over any highway, street, roadway or alley within the corporate limits of the town any commercial vehicle, truck, tractor, trailer, semitrailer, combination thereof and/or other motor vehicle with a rated load capacity in excess of 6,500 pounds except on such highways, streets and roadways as are specifically designated as truck routes.
(b) 
Excepted from the provisions of this division are vehicles that are:
(1) 
Making delivery or pickup within the town limits;
(2) 
Using the shortest practicable route to or from a designated truck route within the town;
(3) 
Using concrete thoroughfares whenever possible rather than local residential asphalt streets; and
(4) 
Not using any highway, street, roadway or alley marked with a sign which indicates “No Thru Trucks,” unless such operation is on, along or over the only possible route to or from a destination or point of origin.
(c) 
Excepted from the provisions of this division are authorized emergency vehicles operating within the normal scope of their duties.
(d) 
Excepted from the provisions of this division are vehicles operated by a public utility while cruising in any area of the town for the purpose of inspecting the facilities of such public utility and/or providing maintenance or service to such facilities.

Exempted from the provisions of this division are vehicles owned by a municipality or other government entity.
(f) 
Excepted from the provisions of this division are vehicles of private businesses which are under contract to the town to provide the pickup of trash and other refuse.

Any person found in violation of any of the provisions of this division shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, shall be punished by a fine not to exceed $500.00, and each and every day such violation shall continue shall constitute a separate offense.
