The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this article, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates another meaning:
A device that a person may ride and that is propelled by human power and has two tandem wheels at least one of which is more than fourteen inches (14') in diameter.
Shall be defined the same as “construction or maintenance work zone” in section 472.022 of the Texas Transportation Code, as amended, and shall mean a portion of a highway or street where construction or maintenance is being undertaken, other than mobile operations as defined by the Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic-Control Devices; and that is marked by signs:
A roadway used for detour/rerouting of motor vehicle traffic when construction or maintenance work on a highway or street causes the closing of all or a part of a highway or street to traffic, and said detour roadway is marked by signs indicating that a roadway is a detour roadway.

It is an offense for any person to operate or ride a bicycle in a construction zone or on a detour roadway.

Any person, firm, or corporation violating any of the provisions or terms of this article shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction, shall be fined a sum not to exceed $500.00 for each offense.
