Editor’s notes–Former sections 5.02.005–5.02.006 pertaining to new materials, processes or occupancies which may require permits and penalty, and deriving from the 1996 Code, secs. 5.105, 5.106 were deleted in their entirety by Ordinance 22-034 adopted 12/6/2022.
The International Fire Code, 2021 edition, as hereafter amended, including appendices B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L, M, and N (“the code”) is herewith adopted by reference as the fire code of the city. A copy of the code, with approved appendices and amendments, shall be kept on file in the office of the fire marshal for reference and inspection.

The International Fire Code, 2021 edition, will be enforced by the division of fire prevention of the city fire department through its fire marshal and other authorized representatives.

Whenever the fire marshal disapproves an application or refuses to grant a permit applied for, or when it is claimed that the provisions of the code do not apply or that the true intent and meaning of the code have been misconstrued or wrongly interpreted, the applicant may appeal from the decision of the fire marshal to the board of adjustment, sitting as a board of appeals, within thirty days after such decision date, or within the time allowed by a specific section of the code, whichever is applicable. Any provision of the fire code establishing a board of appeals or fire code appeal board shall be revised and amended to read “board of adjustment.”
