(a) 
The following codes are hereby adopted by reference as though they were copied herein in full:
(1) 
Standard Building Code, 1982 edition.
(2) 
National Electrical Code, 1984 edition.
(3) 
Standard Gas Code, 1982 edition.
(4) 
Standard Mechanical Code, 1982 edition.
(5) 
Standard Plumbing Code, 1982 edition.
(6) 
Standard Elimination or Repair of Unsafe Building Code, 1982 edition.
(b) 
Any matters in said codes which are contrary to existing ordinances of the city shall prevail. Any existing ordinances to the contrary are hereby repealed in the respect of contradicting points only.
(c) 
Within said codes, when reference is made to the duties of certain officials named therein, that designated official in the city who has duties corresponding to those of the named official in said code shall be deemed to be the responsible official insofar as enforcing the provisions of said code is concerned.

A customer service inspection certification shall be completed prior to providing continuous water service to new construction, on any existing service when the water purveyor has reason to believe that cross-connections or other unacceptable plumbing practices exist, or after any material improvement, correction or addition to the private plumbing facilities. Customer service inspection certification must be conducted by a licensed plumber or certified waterworks operator.

No polyvinyl chloride (PVC) pipe will be used to carry natural gas or LP gas to a residence, business, or any other structure in the city. The use of polyethylene (orange) P.E. 3306 and P.E. 2306 will be allowed as in article 306.3 of the Standard Plumbing Code. The fittings should conform to ASTM standards as outlined in article 306.3 using only welded or compression fittings. There can be no stainless steel clamps on gas lines.
