Fire and police personnel of the City of DeSoto, as hereinafter
classified, shall be subject to the personnel practices to be set
forth in this article.

The Local Government Code, Chapter 143, shall be and the same
is, hereby adopted and made a part of this section for all intents
and purposes.

Ordinances authorizing classes of fire and police personnel and authorizing the number of such fire and police personnel in each class have been deleted pursuant to Section 9.605 which provides for such authorization in the annual city budget.

It is hereby declared to be the intent of the city council of the City of DeSoto, that the employee practices and the adoption of Local Government Code, Chapter 143, as set forth in this article shall not be construed as to apply nor affect any employee of the City of DeSoto, save those fire and police personnel as set forth in the classification plan referenced in Section 9.603 above.

In compliance with Chapter 143 of the Local Government Code,
this section shall be effective November l, 1988. Subsequent changes
in authorized numbers of personnel for each classification adopted
herein may be approved by reference in the ordinance adopting the
annual city budget document.
