The city secretary shall be appointed by a majority vote of the city council and shall serve until otherwise removed by the city council. The city secretary shall execute a bond, payable to the city, as required by law and in such amount determined by the city council. Such bond shall be a corporate surety bond and the city shall pay all costs, premiums and expenses connected therewith.

The city secretary shall perform such duties as conferred on him or her by law along with such additional duties the city council may also confer upon him or her.
