The office of city attorney is hereby created and it shall be his or her duty to prosecute all violations of any ordinance of the city. The city attorney shall provide advice and assistance to the city on legal matters when requested by the mayor or city council. The city attorney shall receive compensation as may be prescribed by the city council. The city attorney shall be appointed and may be removed by a majority vote of the city council.
