For the purpose of this chapter and the promotion of public health, safety and general welfare of the community, the following districts are hereby established for the city:

S-1 General Suburban District.
(2) 
R-1 Single-Family Residential District.
(3) 
R-2 Single-Family Residential District.
(4) 
R-G General Residential District.
(5) 
C-C Convenience Commercial District.
(6) 
C-A/R Automotive Commercial and Commercial Recreation District.
(7) 
C-G General Commercial District.
(8) 
I-L Light Industrial District.
(9) 
I-H Heavy Industrial District.
(10) 
P-1 Public Use District.
(11) 
PD Planned Development District.

The locations and boundaries of the zoning districts shall be established by ordinance and shall be delineated and shown on a map entitled “Zoning Map of the City of Canadian, Texas” and the zoning map is hereby incorporated as a part of this chapter, and is on file with the city secretary.

The boundaries of a zoning district shall extend to a centerline of abutting streets, regardless of the legal description used in establishing such districts. In the event of uncertainty in the exact boundaries of any of the districts as shown on the “Zoning Map of the City of Canadian, Texas,” the city council, upon written application or upon its own motion, shall recommend the location of such boundaries, and shall make the final determination.

It shall be the duty of the city secretary to maintain an up-to-date official “Zoning Map of the City of Canadian, Texas” including all amendments directly adopted by the city council.
