Upon the basis of an engineering and traffic investigation heretofore made as authorized by the provisions of the Texas Transportation Code, chapter 545, section 545.356, the following prima facie speed limits hereafter indicated for vehicles are hereby determined and declared to be reasonable and safe, and such speed limits are hereby fixed at the rate of speed indicated for vehicles traveling upon the named streets and highways, or parts thereof, described as follows:
16th Street from College Street to State Highway 174: 20 miles per hour.
Alta Vista Street: 20 miles per hour.
Apple Street: 20 miles per hour.
Big Springs, blocks 3000 through 3069: 30 miles per hour.
Casa Linda Street: 20 miles per hour.
Catie Lane: 20 miles per hour.
Clubhouse Drive: 30 miles per hour.
Cottonwood Street: 20 miles per hour.
County Road 904, from County Road 1023 to County Road 1010: 40 miles per hour.
County Road 905, from County Road 1010 to County Road 1017: 40 miles per hour. County Road 909, from Eddy Avenue to County Road 1022: 40 miles per hour.
County Road 1010, from County Road 904 to Farm to Market Road 917: 40 miles per hour.
County Road 1017, from County Road 904 to that point where the extraterritorial jurisdiction of the City of Burleson crosses said road, an approximate distance along the centerline of said road of 9,935.9 feet from County Road 904: 40 miles per hour.
County Road 1022, from County Road 904 to that point where the extraterritorial jurisdiction of the City of Burleson crosses said road, an approximate distance along the centerline of said road of 7738 feet from County Road 904: 40 miles per hour.

Dakota Drive: 20 miles per hour.

(a) 
Speed limit; days and time when in effect.
On that portion of those streets or highways being designated below as a school zone, the prima facie maximum, reasonable and prudent speed in miles per hour between 7:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday when school is in session, shall be 20 miles per hour, provided that an appropriate sign giving notice thereof is erected.
(b) 
Signage.
Such sign may provide that such prima facie maximum speed shall apply when an accompanying light is flashing and that such prima facie maximum speed limit shall apply only during such flashing. Alternatively, if flashing lights are not utilized, it shall be sufficient if such sign states, in letters and numbers large enough to be clearly and plainly seen by passing drivers, the speed and the time for which the reduced school zone speed limit shall be in effect.
(c) 
Defense.
It shall be an affirmative defense to a charge of exceeding such prima facie maximum speed established herein that the day in question was a day when there were no classes in session at the nearest school, as well as at any school within two thousand feet (2,000') of the location of such alleged excessive speeding.
(d) 
Locations.
The following streets or portions of streets shall be designated as 7:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. school zones:
Alexandria Lane: 500–600 blocks.
Bentley Drive: 300–400 blocks.
Cooper Lane: 500–700 blocks.
Cottonwood Drive: Entire street.
Country Club Drive: 100–200 blocks.
Henderson Drive: 500–800 blocks.
McMillan Street: 200–300 blocks; 500–600 blocks.
S. Main Street: 400–700 blocks.
Mountain Valley Boulevard: 100–200 blocks.
Plum Street: 500–700 blocks.
20th Street: 100–500 blocks.
22nd Street: 500–600 blocks.
