(a)
The office of municipal court clerk is created.
(b)
The city secretary shall serve as ex officio clerk of the court and as such shall have and exercise the authority, jurisdiction, and power covered [conferred] by law upon municipal court clerks. The city administrator is authorized, with city council approval, to appoint deputy court clerks, as necessary, for the proper discharge of municipal court clerk duties. Deputy clerks shall act as official clerks of the municipal court and shall perform all acts incident to the office.
