There is hereby adopted the 2020 edition of the International Mechanical Code, regulating and governing the design, construction, quality of materials, erection, installation, alteration, repair, location, relocation, replacement, addition to, use or maintenance of mechanical systems in the city; and providing for the issuance of permits and collection of fees therefor.

The following sections within the International Mechanical Code, 2020 edition, are hereby revised:
Section 101.1. Insert: City of Onalaska.
Section 106.5.2. Insert: See Fee Schedule for HVAC systems; See Fee Schedule for Type I Commercial hoods.
Section 106.5.3. Insert: 100% in two locations.
Section 108.4. Insert: Misdemeanor; $2,000; 0 days.
Section 108.5. Insert: $500.00; $2,000.00.

Any person aggrieved by any interpretation of the mechanical code, or by any decision or ruling by the city’s mechanical official, shall have the right to make an appeal or request for variance to the city council. Such appeal or request for variance shall be perfected by written notice submitted to the city secretary and addressed to the mayor and city council asking for a hearing by the city council, and the action of the city council thereon shall be final. Prior to rendering a decision on any appeal or variance request, the city council may seek expert advice and counsel.

Neither the city, nor any authorized agent, acting under the terms of this division, shall be liable or have any liability by reason of orders issued, work done, inspections made, or failure to make inspections under the terms of this division.

Mechanical permit fees shall be as listed in the fee schedule to this code for each installation requiring a permit.
