It shall be unlawful for any person to discharge any gun, pistol or other firearm of any description within the corporate limits of the city, except in the case of urgent necessity; provided, however, this prohibition shall not apply to:
(1) 
Persons operating a public or private shooting gallery under an unrevoked permit issued by the chief of police;
(2) 
Owners, or their authorized agents, discharging firearms on tracts or parcels of land containing ten (10) acres, or more, under an unrevoked permit issued by the chief of police.

(a) 
The chief of police may issue permits to:
(1) 
Bona fide persons desiring to establish or maintain public or private shooting galleries, such permits to be for one (1) year and to remain in force for yearly periods thereafter, unless revoked by the chief of police.
(2) 
Bona fide owners, or their agents, of tracts or parcels of land containing ten (10) acres, or more, such permits to be for one (1) year and to remain in force for yearly periods thereafter, unless revoked by the chief of police.
(b) 
Before any permit is issued by the chief of police to any person, he shall determine that such person is of good moral character, and that such person shall maintain entirely safe and non-hazardous conditions on or about the premises in question as the chief of police may reasonably prescribe.

Any person who shall violate any of the provisions of this article, or shall fail to comply therewith, or with any of the requirements thereof, shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and shall be liable to a fine, and upon conviction of any such violation, shall be fined in accordance with the general penalty provision found in Section 1.106 of this code.

Except as provided in Section 7.501 hereof, it shall be unlawful for any person under the age of 18 years to discharge any BB gun, pellet gun, air gun, sling shot or bow and arrow of any description within the corporate limits of the city, except under the direct supervision of an adult.
