There is hereby created in the city the office of judge of the
municipal court of the city as provided in V.T.C.A., Government Code,
section 29.004.

Such judge and the municipal court shall have such power and
jurisdiction as is granted to a judge and to a municipal court by
the laws of the state, and especially by V.T.C.A., Government Code,
section 29.003, as amended.

Such judge shall be appointed by the mayor of the city subject
to confirmation by a majority vote of the city council, for a term
as provided by law. The judge must be more than twenty-five (25) years
of age. He shall take an oath of office and shall file with the city
secretary a surety company bond as such judge in the principal sum
of one thousand dollars.
