It shall be unlawful for any person to knowingly or recklessly discharge any fireworks or sell any fireworks within the city limits without first obtaining a permit from the board of aldermen. Such permits shall be granted only to allow the celebration of special events with the advice and supervision of the fire department to avoid fire hazards.

For purposes of this section, the term fireworks shall include firecrackers, roman candles, sparklers, sky rockets, bottle rockets and all other similar devices.

Any person convicted of violating this section shall, upon conviction, be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be punished by a fine in accordance with the general penalty provided in section 1.01.009 of this code for each offense.
