A. 
There shall be an Office of Property Maintenance Code Enforcement in the Borough of Wood-Ridge. The Office shall consist of one Property Maintenance Code Enforcement Officer and any number of Assistant Property Maintenance Code Enforcement Officers as may be determined by the Mayor and Council. It may also include a Deputy Property Maintenance Code Enforcement Officer to assist the Property Maintenance Code Enforcement Officer with the operation of the Office and the supervision of its personnel and to act in the absence of the Property Maintenance Code Enforcement Officer.
B. 
The Property Maintenance Code Enforcement Officer, Deputy Officer, and all Assistant Officers shall be appointed by the Mayor, with the advice and consent of the Borough Council, for a term of one year from January 1 to December 31 and shall receive salaries as determined by the annual salary ordinance and resolution. The filling of any vacancies shall be for the remainder of the unexpired term.
C. 
The Property Maintenance Code Enforcement Officer shall be the Director of the Office and shall report to the Borough Administrator and provide regular reports of the activity of the Office to the Borough Administrator.
D. 
Any employee of the Borough designated ex officio, by virtue of their employment position with the Borough, as a Special Assistant Property Maintenance Code Enforcement Officer pursuant to the Property Maintenance chapter of this Code[1] shall not be entitled to any additional base salary for fulfilling said role or performing such duties.

The Property Maintenance Code Enforcement Officer and any Deputy, Assistant, or Special Assistant Property Maintenance Code Enforcement Officers are hereby designated and authorized by the Mayor and Borough Council, under the direction of the Borough Administrator, to:
A. 
Enforce any and all provisions of the Borough's Property Maintenance Code.[1]

B. 
Enforce any and all provisions of other chapters of the Borough Code as may be authorized by the Borough Code.
C. 
Inspect the exterior and interior of any lot, site, property, building, and/or structure located within the Borough that is suspected of violating the Borough's Property Maintenance Code.
D. 
Issue notices of violation and orders to cease, desist, and/or abate to the owners and/or operators of lots, sites, properties, buildings, and structures located within the Borough of Wood-Ridge that are found to be violating the Borough's Property Maintenance Code.
E. 
Appear and testify in Municipal Court in furtherance of enforcing the Borough's Property Maintenance Code and seeking compliance, remedial action, sanctions, and/or penalties from persons or entities found to be violating the Borough's Property Maintenance Code.
F. 
Any such other powers and duties which may be directed or delegated by the Mayor and Borough Council via resolution or ordinance.
G. 
Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Mayor and Borough Council and/or the Borough Administrator.
