At an election held on August 1, 1927, the voters approved the incorporation of the city under the name of Petersburg.

The Plainview Daily Herald, a weekly newspaper published in the city, is and shall be the official paper of the city council, in which any and all ordinances or other information required by law to be published shall be published.
