The city council adopted the chapter 25 council-manager form of government[1] in November 2020 wherein the city manager appoints the municipal officers.
(1) 
Qualifications.
The municipal judge shall be appointed solely on the basis of the person's qualifications and ability. Said persons need not be a residents of the City of Eagle Lake.
(2) 
Term of office.
The municipal judge shall be appointed by City Manager and serve current with the Mayor's term.

The municipal judge shall receive such compensation as the city manager shall set from time to time and within the confines of the adopted fiscal year budget.
