The map of the city showing and designating thereon the various streets and avenues within the city, as revised in November, 1955, a true and correct copy being on file in the office of the city secretary and made a part hereof for all intents and purposes, is hereby approved and adopted as the official map of the city correctly showing and designating in the city the names of all of the streets and avenues therein.

All the streets within the city extending in approximately an easterly and westerly direction and to the south of Sealy Street are and shall be designated by numbers; all streets extending in approximately an easterly and westerly direction and to the north of Sealy Street are and shall be designated alphabetically; all streets extending in approximately a southerly and northerly direction and to the east of Main Avenue are and shall be designated by male first names; all streets extending in approximately a southerly and northerly direction and to the west of Main Avenue are and shall be designated by female first names.

The intersection of Main Avenue and Sealy Street shall be the beginning point for all streets and avenues and all numbers for city blocks shall be designated by the actual distance from the intersection of Main Avenue and Sealy Street regardless of where such streets and avenues begin or terminate.

All the streets within the city extending in a southerly and northerly direction shall be designated as avenues; all streets extending in an easterly and westerly direction shall be designated as streets.

(a) 
All houses and improvements erected upon all avenues extending in a northerly and southerly direction shall be numbered as follows: Even numbers shall be designated on such houses and improvements located upon the east boundary of such avenues and odd numbers shall be designated on such houses and improvements located upon the west boundary of such avenues.
(b) 
All houses and improvements erected upon streets extending in an easterly and westerly direction shall be numbered as follows: Even numbers on the south boundary of such streets and odd numbers on the north boundary of such streets.

On houses and improvements now or to be hereafter erected fronting on any street or avenue there shall be conspicuously placed the number to which such house or improvement is entitled.
