As used in this chapter, the term "franchise property" means the rights granted by franchise and all property constructed, installed, operated or maintained in or upon the public streets pursuant to any right or privilege granted by franchise.

As used in this chapter, the phrase "pipe and appurtenances" shall mean pipe, pipeline, main service, trap, vent, vault, manhole, meter, gauge, regulator, valve, conduit, appliance, attachment, appurtenance and any other property located or to be located in, upon, along, across, under or over the streets of the city, and used or useful in the transmitting and/or distribution of gas.

As used in this chapter, the phrase "poles, wires, conduits and appurtenances" shall mean poles, towers, supports, wires, conductors, cables, guys, stubs, platforms, crossarms, braces, transformers, insulators, conduits, ducts, vaults, manholes, meters, cutouts, switches, communication circuits, appliances, attachments, appurtenances and any other property located or to be located in, along, across, upon, over or under the streets of the city, and used or useful in the transmitting and/or distribution of electricity.

As used in this chapter, the term "street" means any public street, road, highway, lane, alley, court, sidewalk, parkway, easement or similar public place, or above or below same, which now exists or which may hereafter exist within the city, including any public highway within the city heretofore or hereafter constituted a state highway.
