A. 
Misdemeanor: It is a misdemeanor for any person to do any act forbidden or to fail to perform any act required in Montana Code Annotated Section 61-8-601 et seq.
B. 
Applicability: These regulations applicable to bicycles shall apply whenever a bicycle is operated upon any highway or upon any path set aside for the exclusive use of bicycles subject to those exceptions stated in this article.

Every person riding a bicycle upon a roadway shall be granted all of the rights and shall be subject to all of the duties applicable to the driver of a vehicle by this article, and except as to those provisions of this article which by their very nature can have no application.

No person shall operate a bicycle at a speed greater than is reasonable and prudent under the conditions then existing.

It shall be unlawful for any person, other than authorized law enforcement personnel, to ride a bicycle along or upon a sidewalk of any street or avenue within the corporate limits of the City.

A. 
Right Side: Every person operating a bicycle upon a roadway shall ride as near to the right side of the roadway as practicable, exercising due care when passing a standing vehicle or one proceeding in the same direction.
B. 
Two Abreast: Persons riding bicycles upon a roadway shall not ride more than two abreast except on paths or parts of roadways set aside for the exclusive use of bicycles.
C. 
Use of Path Required: Whenever a usable path for bicycles has been provided adjacent to a roadway, bicycle riders shall use such path and shall not use the roadway.

No person operating a bicycle shall carry any package, bundle or article which prevents the driver from keeping at least one hand upon the handlebars.

A. 
Lamps: Every bicycle when in use at nighttime shall be equipped with a lamp on the front which shall emit a white light visible from a distance of at least five hundred feet (500') to the front and with a red reflector on the rear of a type approved by the Montana Highway Patrol Board which shall be visible from all distances from fifty feet (50') to three hundred feet (300') to the rear when directly in front of lawful upper beams of head lamps on a motor vehicle. A lamp emitting a red light visible from a distance of five hundred feet (500') to the rear may be used in addition to the red reflector.
B. 
Brake: Every bicycle shall be equipped with a brake which will enable the operator to make the braked wheel skid on dry, level, clean pavement.

A. 
Required: No person shall ride, use or operate a bicycle within the City limits without first securing a license and attaching the license tag to the bicycle in a conspicuous place.
B. 
Records; Fee; Term: The Chief of Police shall issue and keep a record of all bicycle licenses so issued, and shall receive a fee of twenty-five cents ($0.25) for each license issued. All licenses shall expire on March 31st of each year.

Any bicycle used without a license shall be taken and held by the Chief of Police until a license is secured; and in such case the issuance fee shall be one dollar ($1.00).
